Manager Neil Warnock showed his players a “horrible video” in an attempt to stop Aberdeen conceding soft goals.
The veteran boss is without a Scottish Premiership win since arriving at Pittodrie at the start of this month.
A 2-0 defeat at Kilmarnock on Saturday left the Dons eighth in the table.
“We have to start at the back and shore things up a bit – the goals we have conceded, I have never come across so many disappointing decisions,” Warnock said.
Aberdeen have let in seven goals in their past three league games.
“I went through it all yesterday with them – I thought it was about time we had a horrible video,” Warnock added.
“We don’t have to worry about who we are playing against – we have to worry about ourselves more than anything. We need to stop feeling sorry for ourselves.
“Even in the cup game [2-0 win over Bonnyrigg Rose] we could have thrown it away – we make an elementary mistake, get one cleared off the line.”
The 75-year-old is in charge until the end of the campaign while the club continue their search for a long-term appointment.
But Warnock, who has bemoaned a lack of leadership and physicality in the squad, has rejected suggestions the temporary nature of his appointment has affected his enthusiasm for the job.
“I read about how I have come up for a holiday – make no mistake, I would have picked a warmer place if I wanted a holiday,” added the Englishman as he prepared for the visit of St Johnstone.
“It is a challenge and I have always wanted the challenge and I am going to be working my socks off to find a formula that can get us a winning team – that is what I have come up for.
“There is no slacking off in anything we have been doing, we have just got to keep going.
“One or two things haven’t worked out, so I have got to look at alternatives.”
