Biker dies following crash on A9 near Latheron

A man has died after his motorbike was involved in a crash on the A9 near Latheron in Caithness.

Lorne MacMillan, from Arisaig, was riding a black motorbike that was in collision with a grey Peugeot car about two miles north of Latheron at 09:50 on Sunday.

Mr McMillan was taken by air ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where he died on Monday.

The driver and passenger of the car were taken to hospital as a precaution and later released. A woman was arrested and charged in connection with a road traffic offence and will appear in court at a later date.

Mr McMillan’s said they were “devastated” by his death.

In a statement released through Police Scotland, they said: “He was a best friend and partner, dad, son, brother, uncle and friend to so many more.

“Our hearts will never heal. We request that you respect our privacy as we are forced to accept that our lives have changed forever. We love you forever our darling boy.”

The police have urged anyone with any information about the crash to contact them.
