Bill Cameron took this picture of adventurer Tom McClean’s whale-shaped boat in Loch Linnhe at dawn with a saltire in the sky above. McClean had planned to make an Atlantic crossing in the boat more than 30 years ago.

Alistair Murphy was on a walk along the front at Cramond, Edinburgh. He said that like most of the east coast that day it was shrouded in mist while the west basked in sunshine. Alistair added: “I believe the ‘road to nowhere’ leads to Cramond Island but on a day like this it could lead anywhere.”

Neil McAllister made a trip to Hirta in St Kilda. He said: “Newsportual Trust for Scotland is doing a great job maintaining and, in some cases, refurbishing the original settlement buildings.”
